The first thing to know is the fundamental difference between the materials. Supplemax is a monofilament, which is a single strand of untwisted synthetic fiber (think fishing line); Fireline is a braided beading thread. Supplemax has a test strength of 12 pounds, while Fireline’s test strength is usually about 6 pounds. This means that Supplemax is sturdier and stronger than Fireline. That sounds good but it also means that Supplemax will not give your woven pieces the flexibility that Fireline will.

Het eerste wat je moet weten is het fundamentale verschil tussen de materialen. Supplemax is een syntetische draad betstaande uit een streng ongedraad materiaal (den aan vis lijn). Fireline is een gevlochten rijg draad. Supplemax is getest voor een kracht van 12 pond, waar de kracht die fireline kan hebben meestal rond de 6 pond ligt.
Dit betekend dat supplemax stijver en sterker is dan fireling. Dat klinkt goed, maar betekend wel dat het geregen werk minder flexibel is dan waneer het geregen wordt met Fireline.
Om terug te komen op je eerste vraag, wanneer supplemax aangeraden wordt kun je dus het beste nylondraad gebruiken (de dikte ligt aan je patroon en je kralen).
